From initial conversations to a thriving community of over 1,000 spiritual directors across the United Kingdom.
The Spiritual Direction Forum UK emerged from a recognised need for a national body to support, promote, and advocate for spiritual direction in the United Kingdom. While many excellent training programmes and regional networks existed, there was no unified voice speaking for spiritual direction across denominational and geographical boundaries.
Our Journey
Initial Conversations
A group of spiritual directors began discussing the need for a national body to support and represent spiritual direction in the UK.
Consultation Process
Extensive consultation with spiritual directors across the UK to understand needs and shape the vision for the Forum.
Forum Established
The Spiritual Direction Forum UK was formally established with a founding committee and initial structure.
Online Adaptation
The Forum pivoted to online events and resources, maintaining community connection during the pandemic.
Charity Registration
The Forum achieved registered charity status (No. 1205007), establishing formal governance and accountability.
Growing Community
The mailing list grew to over 1,000 members, with regular events and an active Facebook community of 200+ members.

Looking Forward
As we continue to grow, our focus remains on serving the spiritual direction community across the UK. We are developing new resources, expanding our events programme, and strengthening our partnerships with training providers and related organisations.
